GENERAL INFORMATION

Conference venue

The conference venue is an Old Library of the University of Warsaw (26/28 Krakowskie Przedmiescie Str.). The Old Library is located in the Old University Campus, in the very centre of the city, close to the Old Town and other tourist attractions (see the map). The building itself is one of the most precious examples of the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries in Warsaw. Originally erected in 1891-94 has been recently extensively renovated and adapted to fulfill requirements of a modern conference centre. Access to the meeting site

Public transportation in Warsaw is well developed, reliable and inexpensive. It consists of underground line and a number of bus and tram lines. Conference venue as well as all conference hotels are easily accessible by public transportation. There are convenient bus connections between hotels and the Old Library. The tickets can be bought at newspaper stands and Ticket vending machines in some central locations. There are several kinds or ticket available: single fare (2.80 PLN) or 1-day (9 PLN), 3-days (16 PLN), and 7-days (32 PLN) travelcards. The Congress Venue can be reached


from the airport:
- By bus: regular city bus # 175. The bus stop is just in front of the exit from the airport. Get off at the bus stop 'Universytet' at Krakowskie Przedmiescie Str. It takes approximately 35-40 minutes, but strongly depends on traffic.
- By taxi: The licensed taxi can be found just in front of the exit from the airport lobby. DO NOT accept offers from the lobby. It takes approximately 20-30 minutes to get to the conference venue, depending on traffic and costs approximately 10 Euro.

from the train Central Station and city center
- By walking (20 min)
- By bus: regular city bus # 175 in the direction of Pl. Pilsudskiego. The bus stop is at Aleje Jerozolimskie Str, oposite to the Central Station, just by Marriott hotel. Get off at the bus stop 'Universytet' at Krakowskie Przedmiescie Str. It takes approximately 10-15 minutes, but strongly depends on traffi c.
- By tram: 3 tram stops to Charles de Gaulle Rondo, tram stop 'Muzeum Narodowe', by any tram going in the direction of Praga. Trams go every 1-3 minutes. Then turn left and take any bus going north from the bus stop at Nowy Swiat Str. Go 2 stops and get off at the bus stop 'Universytet' at Krakowskie Przedmiescie Str.
- By taxi: the average cost is 5 Euro.

Accommodation

Special prices have been negotiated in tree hotels offering accommodation at different price ranges.

Hotel Sofitel Victoria
(http://www.sofitel.com/sofitel/fichehotel/gb/sof/3378/fiche_hotel.shtml) offers high standard accommodation. It is located within walking distance to the conference venue and main tourist attractions including Saxon Gardens, National Opera House and the Old Town.

Hotel Ibis
(http://www.ibishotel.com/ibis/fi chehotel/gb/ibi/3714/fi che_ hotel.shtml is a nice tourist class hotel. It is situated in the city center, near the Old Town and 'Arkadia' - the biggest shopping center in Warsaw. Conference venue can be reached following few minutes of bus ride.

Hotel Portos
(http://www.infhotel.pl/en/en_pokaz.php) offers decent economy price accommodation intended for student. It is located approximately 5 km from the conference center and is well connected with public transportation with both, the conference center and all city attractions. Assistance for visitors with disabilities and special needs The Old Library building is equipped with lifts and devices for disabled persons. Please contact the Registration Desk to ask for assistance.

Badges

Name badges must be visible and used at all times, anywhere at the Congress Venue and Poster Sessions area. Lost badges can be replaced for registered participants presenting an ID.

Coat/luggage check

There is a coat and luggage check available at the basement level of the building. Bags and satchels other than the official congress bag and/or business satchels will NOT be allowed in the session rooms and inside the Exhibition area.

Certifi cate of attendance

A certifi cate of attendance will be included in the Congress bag. Duplication/Recording Any form of recording (audio recording, auto taping, digital taping, photography and video) is prohibited. Permission to do so should be sought from the Congress Organizers.

Food and restaurants

Old Library is located on the main tourist route in Warsaw, therefore there is large selection of food and restaurants nearby the conference venue. All variety of services can be found - not only luxurious restaurants, but also reasonably priced bistros, cafés, sandwich and salad bars or fast foods. There is small cafe in the Old Library. In the nearby building of Kazimierzowski Palace there is also a canteen that can be used by participants of the conference.
In addition to that, low-price catering is organized in the Old Library for lunches. Coffee, tea and other refreshments will be available during coffee breaks free of charge.

Internet

Access to the internet is provided within the whole building, as a complimentary service to participants. Please refer to the Registration desk for the Access code.

Posters & Poster Help Desk

Poster boards are numbered consecutively. Please fi nd the number of your poster board in the programme book and/ or in the materials recorded on the pendrive included in your Congress Bag.

Rules

Smoking Policy - The Polish Neuroscience Meeting 2009 is a non-smoking event. Participants are kindly requested to refrain form smoking in the Congress venue.

Mobile Phones - Delegates are kindly requested to keep their mobile phones in the off position in the rooms where scientifi c sessions are being held, as well as in the Internet rooms and during poster sessions.

Food - Food is not allowed inside the session rooms. Participants may take water bottles.

Speakers' Preview Room

Speakers are asked to provide their presentation to the Speakers' Preview Room (2nd. floor) the day before the session for morning sessions and at least two hours before the beginning of the session for afternoon sessions.
